I was a resident at Santa Marie Hostel. I admitted myself for a 28 day program. It's structured to assist as a no-nonsence invironment facility. Meaning you should go in with eyes wide open. Addicts are cunning and manipulative. They feel entitled, because they go there or are ordered by the courts, that they need to be pampred and treated with respect; even though the addict never treated their ownself or others respectfully while romping around in that life unless something was in it for them and then only until they got what they wanted. The addict doesn't consider that part. Especially if ordered by the court to be there. Once there they may not like everything they are required to do. However, what they should be seeking is recovery and freedom from a dark life so your mindset has got to be equally determined to do whatever it takes to clean up as it was to get high. The lengths I went through to get high were ridiculous, not always easy and more times then not very uncomfortable yet I was that determined, and I DID THAT! Santa Maria offered me so much more then just my DIGNITY & self respect back. It offered a quality life, a future and a fighting chance. Fighting being the key word. You have to fight yourself. Fight your conditioned negative thoughts and stupid worthless comfort zone. This is where they step in at Santa Marie. They know your resistance in the beginning is to fight against yourself. Think about it as persons that want to see you succeed not leave and go back into the system. You have all the resources there to leave and have that life you were meant to have. Of pride, of being selfsufficiant, of having livelihood, of self esteem, of fitting in, of inspiring others, of being glad and happy to be a law abiding citizen. It's so liberating. OR leave still an addict and go back to that dark life of having to struggle everyday from place to place, giving your body, money, & life to sit around accomplishing nothing doing nothing worthwhile ever. So if you go to Santa Maria Hostel. Remember is not geared to cater to your pety behaviors. It's is there to address them. To redirect you on positive alternatives, that work if you work them. It's not created to be easy. Its created to cause to look first at yourself and how you are resisting change but nothing changes if nothing changes. You have to see where you yourself are failing you. Then accept the abundant and proper resources they offer there. Because if you do, like me, you will not only one day be grateful for their no-nonsence approche but you will want to "yell it out" to others who are lost like you were. Their experiened staff members, the skills they provide you, the structure they inforce, the resources, the results upon completeing the program are all so worth the small period of time you spend there. The grooming yourself for succees and learning how to avoid back sliding once you are out is so pricekess & worth their toughness. It works if you set your mind to it. I recommend Santa Marie. I love that when you complete the program you can go back anytime if you feel overwhelmed or bogged down with life and fear the possibility of back sliding. They will embrace you and re-direct you not to go there! They are your back up for life!
